Looking Around, Believing | ||

How strange that we can begin at any time. With two feet we get down the street. With a hand we undo the rose. With an eye we lift up the peach tree And hold it up to the wind — white blossoms At our feet. Like today. I started In the yard with my daughter, With my wife poking at a potted geranium, And now I am walking down the street, Amazed that the sun is only so high, Just over the roof, and a child Is singing through a rolled newspaper And a terrier is leaping like a flea And at the bakery I pass, a palm, Like a suctioning starfish, is pressed To the window. We're keeping busy — This way, that way, we're making shadows Where sunlight was, making words Where there was only noise in the trees. http://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/19709 |
These are the pages of our story, turning before your eyes.

First Post!
I always said I wouldn't be a blogger... And here I am. I decided to finally take the plunge for two reasons: I was inspired by a poem and I'm big on family- I want to be able to share our experiences with everybody. The poem from which I borrowed by title was presented by my English professor in class last Friday. The poem called my attention to the beauty and simplicity of beginning. Though our beginning was anything but simple, it's something we are proud of. The three of us (I'm including Maith, he's part of our little family too!) took probably the biggest risk of our lives by packing up and moving across the country, but we have been so incredibly blessed by doing so! Not only is our marriage stronger, but we are more whole as individuals. In the short four months we have been here, we have experienced more than we ever could have hoped for. We are growing and learning, and loving every minute of it!
